This legendary band heavily influenced the alternative rock genre of music and practically created grunge in the 80’s.Their album, Superunknown, debuted as number one in 1984 on the Billboard charts. Two Grammy-award winning songs, “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman”, premiered on the album. Superunknown has sold an estimated 10.5 copies in the United States alone, and 22.5 worldwide. LISTEN: Friendly Fires Release New Song “Before Your Eyes”

Friendly Fires, an English band from Hertfordshire, England, has just released their first song since 2011, ‘Before Your Eyes’. Working with XL Recordings, the six year-old band released a universally appreciated album entitled Pala. Since then, the band has been rather quiet, so fans are welcoming them back into the music realm.

The Asphodells, Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J FairPlay, joined with the members of Friendly Fire to create this single. The band’s frontman, Ed Macfarlane, made it clear that this song would be nothing like their last album. Electronica roots and impressively “psycedicic”, as Macfarlane noted at the Open’er Festival in Poland, “Before Your Eyes” is a complete eight minutes of cutting-edge sound for the band.

In 2009, the band was nominated for the title of Best Breakthrough Award at The South Bank Show Awards. Shortly following that in 2010, Friendly Fires was nominated for both the Best British Group and the British Breakthrough Act. Their pop based album Pala was universally well-recieved, yet their musical journey has not been without trial. In 2011, their trumpet player died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest. Similarly, the lead singer of the trio has on going health concerns which could be responsible for their three year hibernation. All the same, Friendly Fires is back with unequaled talent.“before-your-eyes”/#more-43255

Neil Young Confirms Collaboration with Jack White on Upcoming Album

Neil Young, 68 year-old rock legend, is releasing a new album. Jack White was rumored to be working on the album with him, yet those rumors were publicly denied on Facebook just a few months ago. However, it has now been confirmed that Jack White will appear in two of the songs on his newest album.

The album, titled A Letter Home, will be released sometime this spring. Although Young had previously stated it would be coming out this March, he claims that it is just not ready for its release.

“It’s not ready for prime time yet,” Young explained to Billboard, “It’s not really a release yet, but it’s a very unique record. It’s like a time capsule. It doesn’t sound like anything you’ve heard that was made recently. And some great songs, some beautiful music.”

The album, recorded at White’s Third Man Records in Nashville, consists of multiple covers from Neil Young’s all-time favorite songwriters. This is an interesting experience for singer-songwriter, Young, who has had to recall the songs that virtually changed his life.

Neil Young is already planning his future projects as well. Hoping to next release an album with a strong live orchestra element, this guitar master is up for a big change. In fact, Young already has another album scheduled to come out later on this year. Special Deluxe will center on automobiles, and the effect they have had on society and the role they will continue to play in our world.

WATCH: Fake Rob Ford Joins Arcade Fire for Toronto Show

Arcade Fire, a band based in Quebec, Canada, has been playing their indie rock music since their founding in 2001. In Toronto on March 13, Arcade Fire had many tricks up their sleeve to assuredly provide their fans a night of entertainment.

A group of impostor Arcade Fire members performed ‘Ban Marriage’ by a Hidden Camera, while wearing paper mâché heads. While this was distracting the audience, the real Arcade Fire members were setting up the stage on which they performed the rest of the night. Following in this pattern of surprise, a man was escorted on to the stage, wearing a television headpiece with the projection of the head of Rob Ford, the mayor of Toronto. Ironically, Arcade Fire frontman, Winn Butler, introduced him just moments before they played their song, ‘Normal Person’, by saying “We’d like to bring to the stage the most normal person we know, Rob Ford!” The man appearing to be the mayor played the tambourine along with the band. While this was a strange move on the band’s part, it was a memorable show which surely increased their popularity amongst their fandom.

Pussy Riot Members Found Prisoners’ Rights Group

Pussy Riot, a Russian band, is a protest group based in Moscow. They support LGBT rights, feminist movements, and the overthrow of the apparent dictator, Vladimir Putin. Maria Alyokhina and Nadia Tolokonnikova, prominent members of Pussy Riot, have now commenced their prison rights campaign.

This rights group is called Zona Prava, or Law Zone in English. They launched the campaign in Saransk, which is the capital of Mordovia. These prisoners that the girls have come to defend are mere protesters, who reject the governing of Vladmir Putin. After being imprisoned themselves, a new motive for the prison rights has been revealed and their passion for the cause can not be doubted. They were released December 2013, after being imprisoned for Pussy Riot’s performance protest in Putin.

The girls’ trials are continuous. Just a few weeks ago, Alyokhina and Tolokonnikova were attacked by a group of men and suffered chemical burns and head trauma. On the 14 of March, the girls were attacked yet again by two men with green antiseptic. The price they might suffer for their new prisoners rights group may be high, but both Alyokhina and Tolokonnikova will insist that it is worth the cost.
